Stormy Weather

The storm is coming from the South,
The blue sky up North is still reflecting in the towers .

Pose..

Just a few centuries separate those two...
Him: casually admiring the new arrangement of the statues
in the American wing of the Metropolitan Museum.
Her: Nydia, the blind flower girl of Pompeï,
the most popular American sculpture of the 19th century ,
by Randolph Rogers.

Closed... Open.

"No News... Good News "
Sometimes I wonder, do we need all that information...

"Pas de nouvelles ... Bonnes nouvelles"

On a more positive note,
My oldest son Matthew is playing Moses in front of the Long Island Sound..

Let's enjoy a nice Week end.

Sadness

Sometimes words are not necessary.
This little guy is eating his lunch
and waiting for his mother selling handbags on a New York street.

Cool spot

To quote a Beach boys song:
"Wouldn't it be nice" to spend a Friday evening
enjoying the sun And the view on that terrace !!!
The two Avenues crossing at the foot of the Flat Iron Building are Broadway and 5th.

And as a Bonus for the ones who have never made it to the top
the view looking North of Midtown Manhattan
with The Chrysler Building on the right and Central Park on the top left.

I wish you a good Week end.

A New York Landmark

After 26 years in New York
It was about time I climbed this Landmark
and join the lanes of tourists eager to see how the city looks from the 102nd floor

Apres 26 ans a new York ,

Point of view

Sometimes it is nice to look at our cities
with a tourist point of view...
How many Parisians do you meet who have never cruised around l'Ile St Louis?
How many New Yorkers have never "climbed" the Empire State Building?
"Stay tuned" for tomorrow..

American Wing, Engelhard Court

The American wing of the Metropolitan Museum
reopened on May 19th after 2 years of renovation,
and was last night the site of another dinner party.
From the loggia it looked like a ballet of men in black
dancing around the bronze statues...
The stone facade was originally located on Wall street
and was part of a Branch Bank of the United States (1822)

Enjoy a bright and sunny...(Hopefully)... Weekend.

Roof Garden

Summer is soon here, and the Metropolitan Museum
opened its roof garden with a new exhibit.
This year unique sculpture is Maelstrom from Roxy Paine.
An American artist showing here the relation between 2 worlds
the natural and the industrial.
The Metropolitan Roof Garden is in the middle of Central Park
and surrounded in the background by the Manhattan skyscrapers.

On your marks...

Since Friday evening, the traffic
in certain parts of Broadway has come to a stop.
The plan is to transform Times Square into a pedestrian mall.
Colored lounge chairs are replacing the yellow cabs...

High and Low..

The boats have left their winter parking spot and are back in the harbors.
The lounging chairs are waiting along the pools
Memorial day Week end is the start of the Summer Season.
As for me, I have all of my vision back and my camera is back in hands
Thanks to treatment and your get well wishes .

Taken in New Rochelle , Avalon Towers.
The harbor of New Rochelle first ,
then Larchmont ,across the Sound, Long Island.
The pool of Larchmont Hampshire Country Club.

Not always a given...

A small problem with an eye prevents me from
the use of the computer and... my camera.
The closest thing to Photography ,allowed , would be the Dark room!!!
Hopefully, I will be better before the Weekend,
and can resume visiting and posting.
"See" you soon!!!

A tres bientot!

Golden menu

A shining spot for a quick bite on 14th street and 9th Avenue.

As is

One can regret the cars' reflections on the window,
but for me it's a plus.
I wanted to show the contrast between the outside,
a busy street at rush hour on a Friday evening,
and the quiet atmosphere inside that billiard room,
(you can almost hear Elvis playing in the background!!)
The window is the element that separates the two .

une rue bruyante a l'heure de pointe, un vendredi soir;

Houston street. Lower East side.
I wish you a quiet and relaxing Weekend.

Stroll

A casual stroll in front of General Grant Memorial Monument.
Ulysses S.Grant was the main author of Union victory during the Civil War,
And the 18th president of the United States.
The flags have been installed for the 187th anniversary of the General's birthday,
on April 27th.

"5 o'clock shadow"

With the coming of spring,
I noticed a certain carelessness in the grooming...

Wise...

The Weekend is over,
We don't want to say...see...hear anything about it.
It's a one way street to Monday morning...

The Three Monkeys Restaurant, Lower Eat side, Ludlow street.

"Barefoot in the Park.."

Let's go...
I know a place where we can have a lot of fun!
Running around on a soft pink carpet.

Viens..

Have a great Week end like these
Two little sweet hearts at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

Gazing

More than often, a camera in my hand ,
I hear the traditional : "No pictures please"
But ,this time , it opened the doors...
They were getting ready for
A cocktail party at Henry Bendel on 5th Avenue .
You can see the DJ on the right.
This building was granted a landmark status for
The Original Lalique art glass windows, not to be missed if you are in town!

Strange things happen...

When I took this picture at the Metropolitan Museum,
There was no doubt in my mind this guy was reading a book..
You can imagine my surprise,at night ,
when looking at the screen I realized he was empty handed...
(no Photoshop tricks,I don't know how to use it!)
So just to make sure, I did Not loose my marbles...
I added a picture of somebody actually reading!!!!

Last night, I had a brief exchange in a broadcast on France Inter
a French public radio, and they were kind enough
to choose one of my picture in their blog Allô la Planete.
I won't make a career in broadcasting...Better stick with photography!!!

Sunny polka dots..

For a few days now,New York City has not seen the sun...
Those big pumkins in a Chelsea's gallery window ,
(photographs were not allowed inside)
taken last week reminded me that yellow is a Sunny color!!!
