Looking straight is the UNICEF Snowflake
A 12 feet snowflake made of Baccarat Cristal hanging above 57th st
The Golden lit roof is the Crown Plaza.
In the background , the tip of the Empire State, lit green for Christmas.

Au coin de la 5eme Avenue et de l'Avenue longeant Central Park.
A droite le Parc et l'Hotel Plazza dont on voit la fontaine eclairée.
Sur la gauche, le magasin Apple et son cube de verre.
Tout droit,le flocon de l'UNICEF ,
fait de cristal Baccarat et accroché au dessus de la 57 eme rue.
La coupole dorée et eclairée appartient au Crowne Plazza.
Au fond,on aperçoit la pointe de l'Empire State ,
eclairée en vert et rouge pour Noel.

For those of you,who will not get a chance to see it this year,
here it is!!
One cannot visit Manhattan in December,without,
the traditional picture of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
Down at the end of the alley led by the angels is
an ice rink with a golden statue of Prometheus.
Pour ceux qui n'auront pas l'occasion de le voir cette année
Le voici!!!
Il est impossible de visiter Manhattan au mois de Decembre
sans la photo traditionnelle du sapin de Rockefeller Center.
Au bout de l'allée et en contrebas,guidée par les anges,
une patinoire exterieure avec une statue de Prometheus.

Wish upon a star...

Christmas decorations at The Time Warner Center,
on Columbus circle, those stars face Central Park looking East and
change colors from blue to green..to red..pink and purple
without a stop during the Holidays.

Les decorations de Noel au Centre de Time Warner
sur Columbus Circle. Ces etoiles font face a Central Park
elles changent de couleur et passent du bleu au vert au rose et violet,
sans arret pendant cette periode des Fetes.

I have always wanted to be greeted by a Band and a red carpet!!
May be I should have ring the door bell...
Everybody was there... The Nativity scene.. The Choir
The wooden soldiers And of course Santa on the roof...
I do hope ,they have big shades..It must not be easy to fall asleep,
with all those lights!!!

J'ai toujours revé d'etre accueillie avec tapis rouge et fanfare!!
Peut etre aurais-je du sonner a la porte...
Tout le monde etait la.. La creche.. la chorale de petits chanteurs
Les soldats de plomb et bien sur, Le Pere Noel sur le toit..
J'ose esperer que les double rideaux sont epais..
Cela ne doit pas etre facile de s'endormir
avec toutes ces lumieres!!!

I have already shown you this house, on Beach Avenue, in full day light
This time it is in the evening with Christmas "apparel"
Doesn't it make you think of Mary Poppins house??
I would just love , for it ,to be a doll house, to play with it!!..

Je vous ai deja montré cette maison sur Beach Avenue en plein jour
Cette fois ci, elle est prise en "tenue de Noel" et en fin d'apres midi.
Quand je la vois elle me fait toujours penser a Mary Poppins,pas vous??
J'adorerais qu'elle soit une maison de poupée pour jouer avec elle!!..

Inside , a warm refuge for a hot chocolate...
A welcomed pause ,before going back to the cold...

A l'exterieur , sur la 5eme Avenue,

A l'interieur, un endroit parfait pour un chocolat chaud..

Memory Lane..

Cold December evenings, the fireplace had been working all day..
I can hear the crackling sound of chestnuts, in the cast iron pan
over the fire...
I can see my grand-mother wrapping the linen cloth over them,
once roasted,to keep them warm...
I can smell the sweet perfume, each time we opened the cloth..
Time has gone by, Places have changed,
Memories did not!!

Une soirée calfeutrée du mois de Décembre,
Les braises sont a point dans la cheminée....
J'entends encore le bruit des chataignes dans la poêle en fonte..
Je vois encore ma grand-mere les enveloppant dans un torchon de lin,
une fois grillés,pour les tenir chaud..
Je sens encore le parfum légerement sucré,s'échappant du tissu..
Le temps a passé, les lieux ont changés
Les souvenirs, eux sont restés !!

The tree is up and in full "Light-Bloom" at Rockefeller Center.
The store windows are looking their best.
Soon, it will be time to get our own decorations from the attic..
Meanwhile , out of the city-frenzy-Buzz,
enjoy a peaceful Week end next to the fire

Les vitrines des magasins ont mis leurs attours..
Il va bientot etre temps de descendre nos decorations du grenier..

Lycée Français de NY

A part from having a chance to "rub elbows" with...
Brad Pitt, while you waited for your children
at the end of the school day,
like he did!..
The Lycée Français is one of the few private school in the city
with a French curriculum from Nursery to High school.
The entrance of the new building,where they moved 5 years ago
is carved with a melting pot of personalities' names
of French or American backgrounds.

Brad Pitt, a la sortie de l'ecole, en attendant,comme lui,
vos enfants!...
Le Lycée Français de New York est parmi une des seules écoles privées
de la ville, offrant un curriculum Français de la Maternelle au Bac.
L'entrée du nouveau batiment,ou ils ont amenagé il y a 5 ans
est une plaque de granit gravée avec les noms de personnalitées
d'origine Française ou Americaine .

You can enjoy the Art while sitting in a chair of your choice,
matching the painting you are looking at!!!

En regardant cet homme, j'ai pensé aussitôt a l'histoire de Boucle d'Or..

The Christmas frenzy is on... But I forgot to plug in!!
Today is Theme day ,the theme being "circles and spheres",
I forgot to register, but click here to have a look.
I could have taken a picture of my head,
but on this first monday of the month,
it looks more like a Square than a circle!!

La folie des Fetes de Noel s'installe...mais je ne suis pas encore "connectée"
Aujourd'hui c'est la photo a theme,le sujet etant "Cercles et Spheres"
J'ai oublié de m'inscrire, mais vous pouvez jetter un coup d'oeil ici
J'aurais pu prendre ma tete en photos,pour l'occasion..
mais en ce premier lundi du mois,
c'est plutot une "tete au carré"..qu'une tete "circulaire"!!!
