Brrrrr......
La Frileuse by Jean-Antoine Houdon
dated 1787
It may not be Winter yet on the calendar, but it is here !
We start hearing about flurries... snow... wind chill factor..
All that "beautiful" Winter Vocabulary...
"La Frileuse", in French, means a woman susceptible to the cold...

and this bronze statue from the Metropolitan Museum
expresses perfectly what I am feeling..
bourrasque...frimas...neige..verglas...

Amazing! Your title for this post is exactly what first went through my mind ... before I looked at the title. Stay warm :)
Ciao.
Beautiful again! The piece looks much more modern. Hope you'll bundle up & have hot drinks to keep the chill away.
..beautiful.....
(Bon, d'accord, je me tais...)
Perfectly depicts the cold and the sort of what will today bring in regards to the economy. No escaping either. Great statue and picture.
;-)
I love this statue! Yes, winter has arrived here as well. We had flurries on Monday and Tuesday but nothing stuck, no snow day, darn! This morning was a bit warmer though, the cars temperature was reading 43 when I drove the boys to school instead of ICE what it's been reading the last couple of days!
Don't be unpatient!
Houdon has made another bronze sculpture named:"Summer"
I am inside with a sweater and cocoa, but this photo makes me shiver! Well done!
I'd not heard the word Frileuse before. Now I know my name! I got a haircut today and as always, Isabelle, who cuts my hair falls about with laughter and the amount of clothes I wear. I feel the cold. It's the south of France and I'm wearing thermal underwear, a sweater, a waistcoat and coat. Mind you, I also feel the heat...
Your statue is a beauty. thanks for the lesson.
The sculpture is so beautiful!!! I can almost feel the cold just looking at it. Great shot indeed.
Great title for the post. Is there a comparable word for a man who feels the cold?
M-N, I am "La Frileuse", always looking for warmth! I love the word, it's so beautiful, and the statue is astonishing. Can you tell us anything else about her?
She even looks cold to the touch! Brrrrrr

The shaw, on her upper,highlights
the delicate rondeurs of the body.
On her feet is a vase.It is freezing broken.

Please,did you see the "Ete"?
Clueless in Boston
A man should be a "frileux"!

Sorry,Marie-Noyale,yes,I often confused
You and Eliane(as I often confused
Nathalie from Avignon and Jilly from Menton!)Sorry,I have to pay attention.
By the way, I said my confused-explanation to P.J because my english is not as exactly as yours.
