Tout un mythe...Mais si on s'arrête au bistrot...
C'est marrant, il y avait justement une émission sur la route 66 sur France Inter hier après-midi. J'y ai appris plein de choses, et entre autres l'existence de ce café, et le fait que parfois la route se perd dans les suburbs de Chicago, elle n'est pas évidente à suivre tout du long !
J'ai adoré ta photo Bucolic Sights, d'un romantisme fou, et ton billet intitulé "change" (la photo est excellente) Je pense que tous nous nous souviendrons exactement où nous étions en ce jour très spécial, comme le jour où Armstrong a marché sur la lune.
Pour ce qui est de Love Story, j'ai les mêmes souvenirs que toi. Souvenirs souvenirs. Ah ce que j'ai pu pleurer, c'était bien, c'était bien !!! :-)))
Il te faut plus que le weekend pour ce voyage!
Je les ai traversés mais pas par cette route qui m'est doublement dédiée hélas, mais en avion...
Another dream that may never become reality for me! At least, I have crossed the continent – by Greyhound – in the 60’s (not in 66, in 65! ... and not on the 66)! Nice! A lot of nice memories, meeting a lot of nice people!
Marie-Noyale, je suis restée sur ton blog pour écouter ta sélection musicale, ça fait plus d'une heure que j'y suis et tout me convient. Je vois que nous avons les mêmes goûts musicaux, je suis ravie. Merci pour cette sélection !

In the Sixties, my grandparents drove me to California via Route 66 to my mother, who had been transferred out there earlier in the school year. I still have great memories of that trip.

Je suivrai en camping car. Est-ce que cette route passe par l'Utah, afin que j'aille faire une bise à mon amie Julia. Quand j'y pense, quel voyage ce serait !
hummm ... j'en ai fait un petit bout en stop avec ma copine en 1971 lorsque nous avons traversé les US en stop de NY à LA en passant par les chutes du Niagara, le Grand Canyon, le désert Mohave, highway 1 by Big Sur and Monterey ... down to Ensenada in Baja California ... le Lac salé , et Pocahontas in West Virginia, the Blue Mountains... that was a trip with 5$ par jour pour tout...
we made it and even came back with souvenirs...

the sign is almost surreal... just let me know and I'll meet you at the end of the route in Santa Monica beach. My son gave us a video for Christmas of Flying Route 66. It's a travelogue in photographs by a journalist/photographer/pilot and it was a lot of fun to watch (like a streaming blog!)
A worthy dream. May it come to pass sooner rather than later.
