Fifth Avenue

Late afternoon, looking North on Fifth Avenue.
This is a very prestigious address for the buildings you see in the sun
with a beautiful view on Central park
On the other side, looking south,
Fifth avenue goes down to Washington square
with its arch modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

And to celebrate Bastille Day, July 14th
The recipe for A Manhattan Cocktail:

5cl Rye Whiskey (Bourbon,Canadian)
2cl red vermouth
"Shaken not stirred"...
and a Marashino cherry .

Am I seeing Saks on left in the central photo? and a tower of St. Pat's? The metallic sided building on right, behind the tower--that metal siding always made me curious. that's NYC, filled with the unusual and landmarks.

OH! I see the old Scribner's sign(used to be my fave bookshop!) now it's a Sephora I think--have you gone inside? stunning interior, only it was best for books.

Oh my goodness, just how long is that road? Those facing Central Park are tremendously lucky!

Hi Marie! This month promises to be even more hectic than the already chaotic previous ones! Anyhow, here I am enjoying your blog!
Where did you take these? It looks around 57th, but I can't find out. Have to go back...
To the River Cafe, also... ;)
Excellent posts!
Meanwhile Blogtrotter has now posted my 401st post (on Ann Arbor, Michigan)! Look forward to reading you there and have a great weekend!

Nice pictures. I love pictures from a high vantage point. That cocktail looks fabulous. Speaking of an alcoholic theme, have you visited Isadora in Budapest today, she is wine tasting in Solt.

These are wonderful cityscapes. Really feel on top of the world.

M-N, you forgot to include "gently place stemmed cocktail glass on window ledge overlooking the Big Apple" in your recipe :)

Thanks for your visits and comments!

Faboulous photos of the 5th!! ... but where is the cherry?

Nathalie H.D. July 14, 2008 at 6:23 PM

The cherry, Peter ? I had it!

Olivier July 14, 2008 at 11:44 PM

Il y a aussi..There is also...
