Superbe effet.

cieldequimper March 12, 2009 at 3:36 AM

Olivier March 12, 2009 at 3:49 AM

"Noir + blanc = ballons nacrés" + le panneau "Lighting". C'est en effet une bonne manière d'être incognito ;o)) bien vu et belle photo

claude March 12, 2009 at 4:04 AM

Much better than in color; lovely and lustrous.

Nazzareno March 12, 2009 at 5:07 AM

alice March 12, 2009 at 5:15 AM

hpy March 12, 2009 at 5:22 AM

Rakesh Vanamali March 12, 2009 at 5:31 AM

Wow! Awesome shot! Pearls indeed!

Jilly March 12, 2009 at 7:37 AM

Oh how utterly fabulous! What a photograph - notice how the girl doesn't even look up at this spectacle walking past her!

Marie-Noyale March 12, 2009 at 7:59 AM

>Yes Jilly that's exactly what I love about New York city!!
..You could be walking in your Pj's nobody would have that strange face looking at you..

Lowell March 12, 2009 at 8:47 AM

Imaginative and creative. The balloons do look like pearls. I'm sure this is one of those photos that is much more effective in B&W than in color.

As you state above, this is also what I find so nice about NYC (and to some extent also Paris); you can be different without any big fuzz. The street life is fascinating! (... of course with your blogger eyes you would notice!)

tr3nta March 12, 2009 at 9:42 AM

just beautiful the perfect shot, right place right moment, ready to shot.

Pearls indeed! What a fantastic capture! Love it!

You are right, M-N.! 'O crime do Padre Amaro' is a novel by Eça de Queiroz. And if you want to see the movie, try the mexican version which is far much better than the portuguese one! Lol!

Cezar and Léia March 12, 2009 at 10:34 AM

Wonderful composition ! I love pictures like this one ( b & W ).

écoute Hélène (HPY) c'est trop beau ...tu es toujours là quand il faut.

Oh! That is a post card! It should sell all over the world. I see a man on his way to woo a woman with these lustrous beauties. They look just like pearls. LOVE the shot.

Clueless in Boston March 12, 2009 at 3:22 PM

Great catch. A few pearls like that and I'd retire.

The black and white was the perfect choice and I'm trying to guess what color the balloons were. It's amazing what colors that don't translate all that well into monochrome.
Do you ever shoot video, M-N?

Victor March 13, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Well, this is an instant classic. The best photograph I've seen on the portal in ages. Just perfect. Nuff said.

Babzy.B March 13, 2009 at 4:29 AM

Bergson March 14, 2009 at 5:53 AM

un noir et blanc splendide

Encore un qui bulle dans son travail

namaki March 14, 2009 at 8:33 PM

le titre est pile poil !

gogouci March 15, 2009 at 1:54 PM

Great shot. You have a knack for being in the right place at the right time and the sense to have a camera to take a picture.

Juergen Kuehn March 16, 2009 at 10:33 AM

It's a great tricolor work in monochrome: black, white an silver!

Anonymous March 17, 2009 at 9:47 PM

Squirrel March 26, 2009 at 2:59 PM

This is SO WONDERFUL and lovely in BW .

Squirrel March 26, 2009 at 3:00 PM

I love the bicycle wheels and the person at right who can appear to be simply one white shoe!

Squirrel March 26, 2009 at 3:01 PM

It makes me want to sell balloons just so i can carry so many, to only be seen as legs.

Squirrel April 14, 2009 at 4:55 AM
